Our Approach

Each of our customers require custom assistance to address indoor air quality concerns. Such concerns may include mold, water damage, off-gassing from newly installed building materials, health symptoms, problems with new construction, conflicts with landlords or tenants, home purchases, etc. For these reasons, a “one size fits all” approach to addressing indoor air quality concerns is not useful.

Given that situations and concerns vary from customer to customer, it’s important for us to understand your specific needs, so that the services we offer you addresses your concerns.

What to Expect When You Call Indoor Air Quality Services

Step 1: Intake

Upon calling Indoor Air Quality Services at 770-363-2670 we will perform an intake, which will help us understand the types of services that you need. Questions asked during the intake will include matters relevant to the home/building, health concerns, and any extenuating circumstances.

Step 2: Sampling Strategy

After the intake, we will develop a sampling strategy. Our goal is to take the types and quantities of samples that will have the highest likelihood of identifying and quantifying pollutants in your home/building that are associated with your situation and concerns.

Step 3: Estimate

Once we agree on the sampling strategy, we will prepare and email your estimate to you, which will include a description of the types of services that we recommend and a breakdown of pricing for each service. Services commonly include a building inspection, environmental sampling, laboratory analysis, a written interpretation of lab results compared to guidelines, written, custom guidance for how to remove and prevent the future occurrence of pollutants in your home/building, and post report consultations.

Step 4: Scheduling

After all your questions have been answered, we will schedule an appointment for one of our inspectors to visit the property of concern to perform an inspection and sampling. We are typically able to schedule an appointment within 24 hours of your intake. In some instances, specialized equipment may need to be ordered in advance of your inspection, which may result in your appointment being made after the equipment arrives. We’ll let you know if this applies to you.

Deposit: Note that a deposit is collected upon scheduling. Most deposits are $100. The deposit amount may vary depending on whether specialized equipment and supplies must be ordered in advance of your appointment. You have the option of paying the deposit online or we can help you over the phone. You will receive a receipt of your payment via email immediately after your payment has been made.

Step 5 Inspection & Sampling

In most instances, Indoor Air Quality Services performs a “whole house” visual inspection. The inspector will inform you of anything of concern while he is performing the inspection. The inspector will tell you if his observations indicate that additional samples should be taken. Ultimately, it’s your choice regarding the types and quantity of samples to take. We are here to help you make informed decisions.

Inspections typically take about an hour; however, you are not “on the clock.” The inspector is available to make sure you get as much value from our services as possible. Some customers appreciate discussions with our inspectors, others wish to wait until reports are prepared to discuss the findings from the inspection. Let us know how you wish to proceed, and we will make accommodations accordingly.

Final Payment: You will receive an invoice after the inspection. Payment in full is required immediately after the inspection and sampling is performed. We collect payment in full after the inspection because at this point in the process, we’ve incurred 90% or more of the cost associated with provided services. You will receive an itemized invoice of work performed and a receipt of your payment via email as soon as the transaction is completed.

Please let us know if you have extenuating circumstances regarding time frames for payment PRIOR to scheduling.

Step 6 Lab Analysis

After the inspection and sampling are completed, your samples will be delivered to the laboratory. Lab analysis for most samples is available within 2-4 business days. We will let you know during the intake what to expect regarding turnaround time frames for the types of analyses that will be performed.

Step 7 Reporting & Consultation

Once we receive your lab results, we will prepare and email the following documents to you:

Lab Results – Includes identification and counts and/or volume of measured pollutants per sample.

Lab Results Compared to Guidelines – This custom report will explain the lab results. Items in red and bold print indicate which pollutants are outside of guidelines cited in the report. Health concerns associated with pollutants outside of cited guidelines will be described.

Mitigation & Remediation Recommendations – This custom report explains how to remove and prevent the future buildup of pollutants in your home. This report is informed by observations made during the inspection and your lab results.

Consultation – When you’re ready, we will discuss your lab results and recommendations with you. You are not “on the clock.” Our goal is to help you understand how to make informed decisions about your indoor air quality. If you need multiple consultations, it’s okay. If you need us to discuss your findings with others, let us know.

Non-disclosure: We DO NOT share your documents or speak to others about the services we provide to you, UNLESS you provide a written request via email for us to do so.
